Founder of Route66MC, Sam Allen
has been a lawyer for over 30 years, first practicing at a major New York City law firm for eight years, and later as a partner in the corporate finance section of a Houston, Texas firm. He has been in private practice since 2011. As you will see, Sam has led a colorful life.
While practicing law in New York, he boxed in Madison Square Garden and published an article about the experience in New York Magazine. After that, he was featured in People magazine and on NBC Nightly News as New York’s boxing lawyer. He resurrected his boxing career five years ago when he attended the Gleason’s Gym Boxing

Camp in upstate New York, where he went three rounds with former light heavyweight champ Bobby Czyz (and lived to tell about it). Sam has been skydiving and has taken weeks –long trips on horseback into the Wyoming wilderness. He also ran four marathons, one in under three hours.

Sam had never been on a motorcycle until he bought his first Harley-Davidson Road King in 1996. Later that year he rode over 3,500 miles from Houston to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and back. Since then, he has been to Sturgis over 10 times and has ridden his bike to every major motorcycle rally in the country. He rides over 20,000 miles a year, and has ridden through all of the 48 lower states and over 2,000 miles through Canada.

From 1998 to 2001, Sam owned a custom motorcycle shop in Houston. His partner was (and still is) a member of the Bandidos MC. He lost money on the project, but had a lot of fun and made some long standing friends.

In 2002, Sam founded the Deacons of Deadwood Motorcycle Club. The Deacons started with 13 businessmen, and now has over 70 members. The Deacons have donated over $1,000,000 to charities benefiting children in the Houston area through funds raised at an annual charity ball. The Ball starts with its Dead Man’s Parade, which is a police escorted motorcycle ride to the Ball with more than 150 motorcycles participating. The entertainment has included Foghat, Blue Oyster Cult and Vince Neal of Motley Crue. The Parade and the Ball have been featured in the Houston Chronicle each year since inception, and also have been covered by local television stations. More about the Deacons can be found on its web site, which is www.deaconsofdeadwood.com.

Since founding the Deacons, Sam has become a member of the Iron Butt Association, which sponsors extreme motorcycle rides, including the “Bun Burner Gold”, which requires a rider to cover 1,500 miles in less than 24 hours. He completed two Bun Burner Gold rides in a single month, one of which was from Houston to Los Angeles and the other of which was from Houston to Washington D.C for the dedication of the World War II Memorial. He has completed half a dozen other Iron Butt Rides.

It has taken Sam over two years to gather the information on Route66mc.com. He has ridden Route 66 from Chicago to LA and back over ten times, and has been to all of the places featured on Route66mc.com. The site has over 1,200 photos that Sam took himself. There is a separate web page for each Route 66 town included on the site. Each page has photos, a narrative that Sam wrote to tell you what you will find in the town, a listing of classic Route 66 attractions, listings of local bars, restaurants and hotels, a listing of the closest motorcycle shops and more. He has written a book about Route 66 that will be published later this year, and a Route 66 GPS directional guide is in the works. He also is developing a Route 66 reality show.
