Marlborough, MO
October 16, 2023
You will go through only a couple of miles of Shrewsbury before hitting Marlborough, which was founded in 1944, and has only about 2,500 residents. It's more strip malls and fast food restaurants, and doesn't have an "Old Route 66" feel, but there is a Farmers Market featuring a giant statue of a farmer and his son that would do the Gemini Giant proud.
Marlborough was the home of the now demolished Coral Court and Crystal Court Motels.
The Duplex, the Wayside and the Chippewa Motels are authenyic Route 66 Motor Courts that have survived. All three are well kept, but the Duplex is the best of the three.
