Williamsville, IL
Williamsville is a tiny town outside of Springfield.
Our directions list several different street names as you follow Spur 66 to get through town but that is misleading. It is really one big loop a mile or so long where the same street takes on different names as the loop makes turns. Don't worry so much about following the street names; you cannot get lost.
Die Cast Auto Sales at 117 N Elm St is the big attraction. It also has been called The Old Station and Frank’s Route 66 Place. It is housed in a converted 1930’s gas station and had a large collection of die cast model cars. The last time I was through there it was closed.
You also can check out the Williamsville Historical Museum at 104 S Elm St.
Williamsville Depot is a former railroad depot located between the Norfolk and Western Railroad track and old Route 66. Today the Depot serves as the Williamsville Public Library. The depot was there when Abraham Lincoln's funeral train passed through from Chicago to Springfield. The residents placed an black draped arch over the tracks to honor the fallen president.
When entering Williamsville, go left following the Route 66 sign - Go one block to a Stop - Go straight and follow Spur Route 66 around a big loop - At the next Stop sign, go left, cross I-55, and get on I-55 South toward Sherman - Get off of I-55 at Exit 105 to Bus 55/Sherman Blvd to Sherman
From Exit 109 in Williamsville, go right at the end of the Exit - Go a couple of hundred yards and go right on Spur Route 66 - Follow the road around a big loop until you hit Elm - Go right on Oak (Bypass 66) - Cross Main and go right on Frontage Rd to Elkhart
