Nilwood, IL
Nilwood is a small farming community with only a few hundred people. However, it is the home of the Iron Sleds MC. The Iron Sleds is a men only family style MC founded in 1976. Visitors are welcome at their Clubhouse. These are good guys and I stop in to visit every time I pass by. I was at their 40th Anniversary Party and had a blast.
Our route from Nilwood to Carlinville takes several detours off Hwy 4 that will lead you into the surrounding farmlands. These are interesting segments, but they are bumpy and a bit confusing to follow. You might want to check out a few of them and take an easier route following Hwy 4 into Carlinville.
From the Junction of Hwy 4 by the Iron Sled MC Clubhouse, go left on Hwy 4 - Go 1.8 miles to Donaldson Rd - Go left on Donaldson Rd - Keep following Donaldson around until it is about to intersect with Hwy 4 - Instead of getting on Hwy 4, stay left with Donaldson - When you next intersect with Hwy 4, go left - Stay on Hwy 4 and go left on Allen - Follow Allen around until in goes back to Hwy 4 then go left - Go past Hettik, and go left on Harvest - Follow Harvest back to Hwy 4 and go left into Carlinville
In Nilwood, go right on Morean St by the Iron Sleds MC Clubhouse - Go left on Pine, and keep going as it becomes Morean Rd, then Standard City Rd, then Wylder and then Cambridge Rd - Cross Hwy 4 at a Stop sign - Go straight on 6th St into Girard
