Farmersville, IL
October 16, 2023
Farmersville has an old boarded up Opera House that's kind of cool.
Until recently, Art's Motel had adistinctive restored Route 66 sign. It was gone last time I went by. Hopefully it will be put back up one of these days.
Art's was started when Art McAnrney and Marty Gorman opened a tavern on Route 66 after prohibition was repealed. A dance hall and casino soon were added. The business passed hands between Art and Marty several times, and the business was moved a couple of times. The business survived a fire in 1952. It may or may not be open.
