Pond, MO
Pond is so small it doesn't have a Wikapedia page.
However, just outside of Pond is B Donovan's Steak House, which is in the old Big Chief Motel. This is a modern place inside a historic building built in 1928 by William Clay Pierce of the Pierce-Pennant Oil Company. It originally had a main office, a café, a motor court and a gas station, and was intended to be one of a chain of motor courts between Springfield, IL and Tulsa, OK that would feature Pierce-Pennant gas stations. Pierce sold it to Henry Sinclair of the Sinclair Refining Company, who later resold it after Route 66 was realigned. This place is a cut above most of the spots you will find in old buildings along Route 66.
The ride through here is rural and scenic. It's part of the reason to have come this way instead of the quicker route through Allenton.
