Conway, MO
Its only five miles from Phillipsburg to Conway, and again, Route 66 follows near I-44 but stays rural enough to make you feel like you are in the country. There are rolling hills, easy turns, grasslands and lots of ponds.
You can visit the Conway Route 66 Welcome Center at 726 W Jefferson Ave.
If you are getting hungry or thirsty and can't make it the 14 miles to Marshfield, there is a nice country store called Summer Fresh, which has an excellent deli.
Between Conway and Marshfield, you will come across Sorrell's Trading Post, which used to be Luthy's Buzz Inn. There has been a store in this location since 1936, and it was remodeled in 1992. Until recently it sold liquor, beer and rudimentary groceries and snacks, but it has been closed the last few times I passed by.
