Rescue is another town that went into decline after I-40 bypassed Route 66. In the 1920s, Rescue had a hotel and service station. There was a school there until 2003 when it was closed due to lack of enrollment.
Keep on trucking. You are almost to Avilla and the famous Route 66 Cafe'!
