Catoosa, OK
Time Magazine named The Blue Whale one of the 50 best roadside attractions in the US. It was built in 1972 by Hugh Davis as an anniversary present for his wife Zelda, who owned Zelda Davis's Alligator Farm, which was next door. On the other side of the road from the Alligator Farm was Chief Wolf Robe's Trading Post. Zelda Davis was the Chief's sister in law.
There is a nice little gift shop at the Blue Whale run by a nice woman named Linda. There are some old pictures and other souvenirs available, and Linda has a wealth of knowledge about the Blue Whale and surrounding sites.
The Blue Whale is in need of repair, but it's still one of those places that turns out to be as good as anticipated.
Downtown Catoosa has the Catoosa Historical Museum and the D W Correl Museum at 18834 E Pine St, which displays rocks and gems in one building and vintage cars in another building.
