Hydro, OK
The ride from Geary to Hydro follows lots of old road through wooded areas out of sight of I-40. The route will take you across the South Canadian River over a distinctive narrow 1933 bridge.
To see Hydro. Take a right at the Stop sign at Hydro Junction. There is not much in Hydro, but there is gas if you need it.
There also is the Hydro Bar, which is a biker destination. I hear it has closed, but places along here seem to open and close all the time. Might be worth checking out.
The ride from Hydro to Weatherford is along the I-40 frontage road, but you will pass the original Lucille's. It was built by Carl Ditmore in 1929. In 1934, it was bought by W.O. Waldrop. In 1941 Lucille and Carl Hammons bought it and operated it as a service station, restaurant and motel for 59 years.
From the sign at the Junction of Arapaho in Hydro, go straight toward Weatherford - Stop and see Lucille's, then continue on Route 66 - At the Stop sign by Lucille's Roadhouse in Weatherford, go straight across Airport Rd onto East Main St - At the first stop sign (Lyle Rd), jog left and stay on East Main St - At the end of East Main St, go left on Washington, then take an immediate rigt on Main St - Follow Main St through Downtown - At the turn onto Bus 40, go straight rather than going around the curve - There is no Route 66 sign at the Bus 40 curve - Go a few hundred yards and go left onto 4th St - There is no Route 66 sign, but you will see signs as soon as you make the turn onto 4th St - When you get to a curve onto I-40, go straight instead and stay on the Frontage Rd toward Clinton
From the Stop sign on the Frontage Rd in Hydro, go straight following Route 66 - Keep going until Route 66 merges into Hwy 281 and keep going straight - Cross the ornate iron Pony Bridge - At the next Stop sign, go left on Hwy 281 N to Geary
