Elk City, OK
Elk City hosts Route 66 Days in late may or early June every year.
Elk City has several Route 66 landmarks, the first of which is the National Route 66 Museum at the West end of town, with it's giant neon Route 66 sign.
The Route 66 Museum is adjacent to the Old Town Museum. This museum is an expanding collection of historical and replica period buildings, railroad cars and similar exhibits.
On your way through town, you will pass by the 179 foot tall Parker Drilling Company Rig at the Anadarko Basin Museum of Natural History. It is one of the tallest drilling rigs in the world.
Also check out the Longhorn Bar. It is more of a country place than a biker place, but bikers go there, and they sometimes have wet T-Shirt contests! Again, only beer, but they put out simple food (like hot dogs and chili) for free.
