Glorieta, NM
Glorieta has a small church by the entrance to I-25, but it is more known for the Baptist Conference Center, which has provided retreats in a Christian atmosphere for over 60 years.
It was the site of the Battle of Glorieta Pass, which was fought on March 26-28, 1862, during the War Against Yankee Aggression. It sometimes is referred to as the "Getteysberg of the West." It was the decisive battle of the New Mexican campaign. Confederate forces attempted to drive Union forces from the area, but they were unsuccessful in doing so. The Confederates had to withdraw to Arizona, and eventually back to Texas.
