The area surrounding Rancho Cucamonga used to be dominated by vinyards and citrus groves. The St Thomas Wnery, Califirnia's first, still exists there.
Rancho Cucamonga has two Route 66 icons of note. The first is the Sycamore Inn, which started out as a stagecoach stop in 1848 and has been operating ever since in ever nicer structures. The other is the Magic Lamp Inn, which has a cool magic lamp sign. They both are upscale places and are across the street from each other.
Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers is from Rancho Cucamonga. Also, the LA Dodgers Class A minor league Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are there.
