Edwardsville, IL
The entry to Edwardsville has lots of tree lined and hilly roads that are lots of fun on a motorcycle. It was incorporated in 1818 and is the third oldest town in Illinois. St. Louis Street is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The movies The Lucky Ones and Stingray were filmed in downtown Edwardsville, and Jackson Browne recorded a couple of the songs on his Running on Empty album there.
The Edwardsville Route 66 Festival is held each June. It is not really a biker thing, but it it is a good biker destination to check out a classic Route 66 town. There are historical displays, a classic car show and live bands.
The Stagger Inn Downtown is a good downtown bar with solid food and live bands on the weekends.
Edwardsville is a quaint town, but as you leave, the road gets wider and busier. The feel transitions from rural to suburbia as you get closer to St Louis.
- Follow Old Route 66 in Edwardsville to Hwy 157 through Downtown.
- Follow Hwy 157 as it bears left on West St.
- Continue on Hwy 157 for about 4.6 miles to the Stop light at Siue South Rd.
- Go straight crossing onto Chain of Rocks Rd.
- Follow Chain of Rocks Rd to Mitchell.
Leave Edwardsville on Hwy 157 - At the outskirts of Downtown, go left with Hwy 157 and follow it to Hamel
