Arcadia, OK
Arcadia has the fully restored 1898 Round barn. There is a good Route 66 exhibit and a gift shop. For a small fee, you can buy a commemorative brick engraved as you like. The proceeds go to the upkeep of the Barn. I bought one over 20 years ago, and its kind of fun to go back and find it from time to time.
Next door to the Round Barn is the 1917 Tuton Drug Store Building at 201 N Main St. It housed the First State Bank of Arcadia. By 1919, the bank sold the building to Thomas Tuton, who operated a drug store there until 1934, and his wife continued in the business until 1941. The building currently houses a real estate office.
OK County 66 features miniature replicas of famous Route 66 attractions, including Twin Arrows, the Blue Whale, the Wigwam Motel, the Cadillac Ranch and more.
Down the road from the Round Barn and the Tuton Drug Store Building, you will fine Pops's, which is a big Oklahoma City Area biker destination. It is a unique modern gas station and roadside restaurant that features a giant wire sculpture of a soda pop bottle out front. It has hundreds of different kinds of soda (but I couldn't find Birch Beer, which is big in the New England towns where I grew up).
