Grants, NM

October 16, 2023

Grants is the only town with a significant population between Albuquerque and Gallup.

Grants was founded as a railroad camp in the 1880s during the construction of the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. By the 1930s it was a logging town. It's most notable industry was uranium mining until the mines became played out in the 1980s. Since then, Grants has survived from Route 66 tourism.
