There was no Truxton before Route 66 was opened. Truxton was founded in 1951 when Donald Dilts built a service station to accommodate Route 66 travelers. Almost everything is now gone except the Frontier Lounge and the Frontier Motel and Cafe' across the street. The Frontier Motel sign recently has been restored. The Frontier Lounge has a sign saying it's open, but I'm not sure it is. I was unable to get a phone number.
